About Us

Magellan Explorer Unit was formed in April 2002 and was one of the first units in the Richmond District. We meet on Tuesday nights and currently have 17 members and 2 leaders. We are a very adventurous unit and as well as taking part in most of the district activities we also do a wide range of physically and mentally challenging activities which promotes teamwork, friendship, trust and fitness within our group whilst all the time improving and honing those skills already learned. Although our meetings are run by the leaders the Unit members have a lot of input into what we do ensuring that we offer a wide range of exciting and challenging programs carefully planned to take into account all ages and abilities. We have an eclectic mix of members, ensuring that we are well noticed wherever we go!!! Achievements for 2005 Borough Youth Quiz - 3rd Place (Under 19's) Borough Youth Quiz - 4th Place (Under 16's) District Air Rifle Competition - Winners District 5-a-side Football Competition - Joint Runners Up County Night Hike Competition - 5th Place - Gold Route 8 members earned their Chief Scout Diamond Award 2 members earned their Chief Scout Platinum Award 3 members earned their Chief Scout Gold Award 3 members earned their 100 nights away award 3 members earned their 75 nights away award 3 members have been selected to take part in a 3 week expedition to South Africa! We are always happy for new members to join us, so if you are between the ages of 14-18, you are outgoing, adventurous and have a zest for life then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be only too happy to invite you along to one of our meetings.
